MARY ELLEN BERNARD • Business & Creative Manager

With diverse production, management and performing experience in theatre, music and the arts Mary Ellen Bernard has worked onstage, backstage and in the planning stage.

She was a founding member of Stage Left, a non-profit theater company, and was Executive Director of the organization for five years producing an average of three shows a year in the New York city area. She was Costume Supervisor for IBM’s 2007 Global Golden Circle productions in Dubai and Hawaii. She consults for Magic Box Productions, a non-profit that brings media arts to New York city schools, and she was producer and publicist for the group’s first gallery exhibit and opening night event. She is an accomplished lyricist and musical performer. And as co-owner of Triple Z Music she manages finance, marketing and general operations.

Mary Ellen started her “day job” career at Billie Jean King’s womenSports Magazine. From there she moved on to The Literary Guild Book Club, Doubleday Publishing and Simon & Schuster where she was Chief Copywriter in the hardcover division creating promotions for books by bestselling authors. She later became Vice President and Creative Director at the independent promotion and advertising agency, Practical Marketing.

As a performer Mary Ellen has done theatre, cabaret, stand-up comedy and the occasional film and television appearance, including a series of commercials for Staples. She worked extensively on the acoustic music circuit and released three CD’s which received reviewer praise and airplay on radio stations around the country and in Europe. She has performed at clubs, theaters and festivals either as a featured act or opening for such artists as John Prine, Richie Havens, Tom Paxton, John Sebastian, Rockapella and The Bacon Brothers.

An Adjunct Professor at Pace University in Manhattan, Mary Ellen teaches an undergraduate course on the entertainment business.
